Orange Drop Cookies

Cookie:
1/3 Cup Butter
1/3 Cup Shortening
3/4 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
2 Tablespoons Orange Peel -- freshly grated
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour -- Sifted
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
Orange Butter Icing:
2 Cups Confectioner's Sugar
2 Tablespoons Butter
1 Tablespoon Orange Rind -- Freshly Grated
2 Tablespoons Orange Juice
Preheat oven to 400°f.
Cookie:
Cream together butter, shortening, and sugar beating until fluffly. Beat in egg. Add juice and orange rind.
Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir into creamed mixture.
Drop by teaspoonsful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
Cool on a rack and frost when cool with Orange Butter Icing.
Orange Butter Icing:
Blend sugar and butter. Stir in orange rind and orange juice. Blend well until smooth.
