Beer Bread II
Source of Recipe
Real Food for Real People
List of Ingredients
2 2/3 cups self rising flour*
1-12oz can beer
Recipe
Put flour in large bowl, pour in beer. (This can be the cheapest beer at
the supermarket or whatever fancy stuff you hand on hand - either works
fine.) Stir a few times until just combined. It will begin to bubble and
get slightly sticky. At this point, you can turn it into a greased bread
pan or baking dish and bake for 50 minutes at 350, or you can first add
other ingredients. I usually chop some olives, add 1/2 tsp or so Italian
seasoning and about 1/4 cup parmesan. Another variation is chopped green
onions, shredded cheese and poultry seasoning. Or shredded cheese and
chopped jalapenos. Or chopped fresh herbs. Many possibilities here - all
are good, and you get fresh bread for dinner in less than an hour with
almost no work!
*Make your own self-rising flour: 1 cup all purpose flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking
powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Double or triple to get however much you
need. Store excess in airtight container, preferably in refrigerator.
Number of Servings: Makes 1 loaf
