Buttery Bread Dough

List of Ingredients
1 package active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110 - 115F)
1/2 cup warm milk (110 - 115F)
1/4 cup Butter Flavor Crisco all-vegetable shortening or 1/4 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
Recipe
In large mixing bowl combine yeast and water. Add warm milk, Butter Flavor Crisco, egg, sugar, salt and 1-1/2 cups flour. Beat on low speed of electric mixer for 3 minutes. Gradually mix in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.
On well-floured board knead for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic, adding flour to board as needed. Shape dough into ball. Place in greased bowl. Turn dough over. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch down dough. Shape as directed in recipe.
NOTE: Kneading may be omitted when making Dinner Rolls, if desired.
Basic Loaf: Form into loaf. Place in well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Cover; let rise in warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Bake at 375ºF for 30 to 35 minutes, or until light golden brown.
