    Tea Twists

    Source of Recipe

    unknown

    List of Ingredients

    2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
    3 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1/4 cup shortening
    2 tablespoons butter
    2 egg, slightly beaten
    1/4 cup milk (about)
    1/2 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

    Recipe

Sift dry ingredients together in bowl. With pastry blender or two
knives, cut in shortening and butter. Combine enough milk with eggs to
make 2/3 cup and add to dry ingredients, stirring only enough to make
a sift dough. Turn dough out onto floured pastry cloth, knead gently
for about 30 seconds and roll into a rectangle about 8x12-inches.
Spread dough with peanut butter along one lengthwise half and sprinkle
peanut butter with brown sugar. Bring unspread half over spread half
to form lengthwise fold. Cut into strips about 1-inch wide and,
holding one end of the strip between forefinger and thumb, form each
strip into a straight ling twist, pinching unfolded ends together to
secure. Place twists on greased baking sheet and bake in hot 425ºF
oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 1 dozen twists.
