Chocolate Cookie Muffins

2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup cold butter or margarine, cut into 12 pieces
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
14 chocolate sandwich cookies, broken
Recipe
1 Heat oven to 375°. Grease six 4 x 1/2-inch muffin-top cups (see Note).
2 Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl. With pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3 Mix egg, milk and vanilla in small bowl. Stir into flour just until blended. Gently stir in cookies. Spoon into prepared cups, dividing batter equally.
4 Bake in 375° oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in centers comes out clean. Remove muffins from pans to wire racks to cool.
5 Note: You may also make these in twelve 2 1/2-inch muffin-pan cups. Bake in 400° oven for 12 minutes.
