    Devil's Food Cake w/Strawberries & Cream

    1 3/4 cups cake flour
    3/4 cup sugar
    1/2 cup cocoa
    1 cup skim milk
    1/3 cup shortening
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon almond extract
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
    1 egg
    1 cup thawed frozen whipped topping
    1 cup sliced strawberries

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour 13 inch by 9 inch
    baking pan. In to large bowl measure all ingredients except whipped topping
    and strawberries. With mixer at low speed, beat until well mixed
    constantyl scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Increase speed to high and beat 4
    minutes longer. Spoon batter in to prepared pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until
    toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool cake in
    pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan and cool completely on
    wire rack.
    To serve, spread whipped topping on top of cake and garnish cake
    with strawberries.
