    1 bar German's sweet chocolate
    2 cups sugar
    1 cup shortening
    4 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. butter flavoring
    1 cup buttermilk
    3 cup sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt

    Recipe



    Partially melt chocolate over hot water. Remove and stir rapidly until
    melted. Cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, flavorings, and
    buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda, and salt; add to shortening.
    Mix well. Blend in chocolate. Pour into a well-greased and
    well-floured 9-inch tube pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 90 minutes.
    Remove from pan while still hot and place under tightly fitting cover
    until thoroughly cooled. Serve plain or with the following glaze or
    frosting.


    German's Sweet Chocolate Glaze

    1 bar Germans sweet chocolate
    1 Tbsp shortening
    1/4 cup water
    1 cup sifted confectioner's sugar
    dash salt
    1/2 tsp vanilla

    Melt chocolate and shortening in water; mix in remaining ingredients.


    German Chocolate Frosting

    2 bars Germans sweet chocolate
    1/4 cup butter
    1/2 cup water
    dash salt
    1 tsp vanilla
    3 cups confectioner's sugar

    Melt chocolate and butter in water. Stir in salt, vanilla, and
    confectioners sugar.
