Old Fashioned Strawberry Pie

1 quart hulled strawberries
3 tbsp cornstarch
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Dash salt
1 cup whipping cream
1 baked 9 inch pie shell
Whipped cream, for garnish
Whole berries, for garnish
Recipe
In food processor or in bowl with fork, crush half the berries.
Combine berries with cornstarch, sugar, lemon juice and salt in 2 quart
saucepan.
Place over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook until
thickened and clear. Cool.
Cut remaining berries into quarters. Blend into the cooked mixture. Cool.
Whip cream until stiff and fold into the cooled berry mixture.
Prebake pie shell at 425 for about 12 minutes until golden brown. Cool
completely before filling.
Turn into the baked pie shell. Cover. Chill 4 hours or overnight.
To serve, garnish with puffs of whipped cream and additional berries.
