Desserts: Brownie Mix

6 c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
4 tsp. salt
8 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. cocoa
2 c. shortening
Recipe
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Mix sugar
and cocoa together. Mix these all together. Cut in
shortening. Store in plastic container. This is enough mix
for 8
pans of brownies (8 x 8-inch pan size). For each pan of
brownies mix 2 cups brownie mix, 2 beaten eggs, 1 teaspoon
vanilla and 2/3 cups nutmeats (if desired) in mixing bowl.
Batter will not be smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25
minutes.
For a large cake pan of brownies, I triple the amounts for
the
8 x 8-inch pan. This is a quick way to make brownies on a
busy
day. The mix keeps well.
