Chicken with Sour Cream Sauce

3 to 3 1/2 pounds chicken pieces
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon sweet Hungarian paprika
1 cup chicken broth
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup sour cream
salt and pepper, to taste
Recipe
Wash chicken pieces; pat dry. Heat oil and butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Brown chicken pieces in hot fat on all sides. Remove chicken and all but 2 tablespoons of the drippings. Cook onion and green bell pepper in remaining drippings until tender, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Blend in the paprika. Add chicken broth to skillet; return chicken to skillet. Cover and simmer chicken for 45 minutes, or until chicken is tender and juices run clear. Remove chicken to a hot platter; keep warm.
Strain liquid in skillet; skim off excess fat. Blend flour and sour cream together; stir into strained liquid. Cook, stirring, until thickened. Season with salt and pepper; pour over chicken.
Serves 4.
