Oven Crisp Chicken and Biscuits

List of Ingredients
some no specified amount BLM
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. shortening (use butter
flavor Crisco)
1 cut-up frying chicken
Biscuits:
2/3 c. milk
2 c. Bisquick or Jiffy mix
Recipe
Biscuits: Add milk all at once to BLM. Stir
with fork to soft dough. Beat 15 strokes (will be
stiff), roll on surface dusted with BLM .
Knead 8 to 10
times. Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut with cutter.
Heat oven to 425 degrees (hot). Mix BLM, salt,
paprika and pepper in paper bag. Melt shortening in oven in
13 x 9 1/2 x 2-inch oblong pan. Shake pieces of chicken in
bag, few at a
time, to coat thoroughly. Lay chicken, skin side down, in
single layer in hot shortening. Bake 45 minutes. Make bis-
cuits. After 45 minutes, turn chicken, push to one side, put
in biscuits. Bake 15 minutes more or until biscuits are
lightly browned and chicken tender.
Gravy: Remove chicken and biscuits. Add 2 tablespoons
(mix to cover chicken) to drippings in pan. Cook on low heat
until smooth. Remove. Add 1 1/2 cups hot water, stir and
boil
1 minute.
