    The New Creative Crock-Pot Slow Cooker Cookbook

    Recipe Introduction


    Traditional, but simple to prepare.
    For a 5,6 or 7-quart CrockPot, double the amount of chicken, chicken broth, & refrigerated biscuits.

    List of Ingredients




    1 medium onion, chopped
    1-1/2 lbs. fryer chicken parts
    1 C. chicken broth
    1/2 C. dry white wine
    2 medium celery stalks, sliced
    2 medium carrots, sliced
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
    1/2 C. frozen peas
    1/2 C. heavy cream or milk
    2 T. flour
    1/2 can refrigerated biscuits (5 biscuits)

    Recipe



    In a large skillet, saute the onion & chicken until browned. Place the skillet contents in the CrockPot slow cooker. Add the remaining ingredients, except for the frozen peas, cream, flour & biscuits. Cover; cook on Low 6 to 8 hours (or on High for 3 to 4 hours). Let the chicken cool & remove the meat from the bones.

    Meanwhile, whisk together the creamand flour in a samll bowl & stir ito the slow cooker to thicken the stew. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces. Drop these pieces into the stoneware & turn to High for 30 minutes. Return the chicken to the stew. Serve in individual bowls, ladlling a couple of dumpings with the chicken in each serving.

    Makes 5 servings.
