Bavarian Apple Torte
PASTRY:
1/2 Cup margarine, softened
1/2 Cup sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 Cup all-purpose flour
*In medium-sized mixing bowl, cream margarine, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Blend in flour.
*Spread dough evely on bottom & sides of 9" springform pan.
FILLING:
1 (8-0z.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 Cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
*In medium-sized mixing bowl, combine cream cheese & sugar; beat until smooth.
*Pour filling into dough-lined pan.
TOPPING:
1/3 Cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 Cups sliced peeled apples (I use Rome)
1/4 Cup sliced almonds
*Preheat oven to 450°.
*In large mixing bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, apples & almonds. Toss to coat evely. Arrange on filling in pan.
*Bake for 10 minutes at 450°; reduce oven temperature to 400° & bake for 25 minutes.
*Cool in pan. Torte may be stored in refrigerator or frozen.
