Reminiscent of the popular popcorn churned in big kettles with a sugar coating, this oven-baked homemade treat has a similar sweet/salty taste and crunch.
16 cups popped popcorn (about 2/3 cup unpopped)
¼ cup light-colored corn syrup
¼ cup butter
Salt
Recipe
Place the popped popcorn in a large roasting pan. In a small saucepan heat and stir the corn syrup and butter until the butter is melted. Pour over popcorn mixture; toss to coat. Finish the kettle-style corn by sprinkling lightly with salt; toss to coat.
Bake in a 300° oven for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Cool mixture in pan. Break up any clusters before serving. Store at room temperature in a tightly covered container up to 1 week. Kettle-style corn recipe makes 16 cups.
