1 14-ounce can Eagle Brand condensed milk
4 large eggs or 6 medium eggs.
4 ounces key lime juice
1 piecrust, baked and cooled
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Recipe
Separate eggs. Set whites aside. Beat the yolks slightly. Add condensed milk, key lime juice and mix. Pour into cooled crust. Likely you'll be using bottled key lime juice so you'll have to refrigerate the dessert so that it'll set.
For the meringue, beat the egg whites in a very, very clean bowl until you get medium peaks. Add the cream of tartar and beat some more. Then add the sugar and continue beating until the mixture stiffens. Spread the result over the whole top of the pie so that the crust is sealed and thrust into a preheated 375 F oven, baking until the meringue is golden. Then slip it into the fridge.
