Hearty Beef Stew

List of Ingredients
- 1kg beef or kangaroo
- 2 lge onions
- 8 potatoes
- 4 swedes
- 4 carrots
- 1/2 bottle red wine
- 2 bay leaf
- small amount water
- black pepper
- pepper medley
- 1-2 tsp vegeta (veg stock powder)
- 2tbs butter
- 2tbs flour
- extra butter
Instructions
- Brown meat and onion in generous amount butter
- Add pepper, carrots bayleaf and stir for 1 minute.
- Add other vegies. Turn up heat and our in wine. Let the alcohol boil off.
- Add water and stock powder and turn heat down to minimal. Cook at least 1 1/2 hours until everything is tender.
- Knead butter and flour together (roux) and add to the casserole. continue cooking 15 minutes.
- Serve alone or with rice, mash, crusty bread or garlic bread.
