Easy Poached Pears

serves 6. Can be served with cream, vanilla icecream or chocolate as desired.
List of Ingredients
- 6 pears, peeled
- 2 whole cloves
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 350g caster sugar
- 6 cups water
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 1 cup jam of your choice
Instructions
- Combine sugar and water in a deep heavy-bottomed pan. Stir over medium heat until dissolved.
- Bring to the boil for one minute. Reduce heat to a simmer. Add other ingredients. (even though the recipe said all i suspect they mean except jam?)
- Even though the pears will float, ensure there is enough liquid so you could submerge them. Add mroe water if necessary.
- Poach gently(for about 40 minutes) until tender. Remove from heat and allow pears to cool.
- Remove each pear from its syrup and place on a plate. Drizzle with jam thinned with a little poaching syrup.
