    Pears Helene (cheat's version)

    Source of Recipe

    my father, Peter

    Recipe Introduction

If you poach your own pears in red wine or something all the better. But this is the easy way.

You may also substitute banana or make it with both fruits.

    List of Ingredients

    • I tin halved pears
    • 1 block good quality dark cooking chocolate (why even bother with second rate chocolate?)
    • 150-300ml cream
    • sugar to taste (optional)
    • 1-2 tbs whisky (optional)
    • vanilla icecream (go for a good one)

    Instructions

    1. In a saucepan or better a double boiler combine coarsely chopped (or broken) chocolate with the cream.
    2. Heat very slowly stirring RELIGIOUSLY until melted and combined. Add sugar and whisky if desired.
    3. Serve up in bowls: half a pear, a scoop of chocolate icecream and drizzled over the chocolate sauce.
    4. If you want to get fancy garnish with a tuille or one of those cyllindrical biscuits.

    Final Comments

I've had this recipe with mango, strawberries or raspberries at times. It's good with all sorts of fruit
