Potato Pastitio

normal pastitio is with pasta so do it that way if you prefer
List of Ingredients
- 7 medium sized desiree potatoes
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 2 tbs tomato paste
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- sprinkle of mace
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- freshly ground black pepper
- 750g topside mince
- 1 lge brown onion, chopped
- 2 tbs white wine
- 4 tbs finely crumbed fetta cheese
- 1/4 cup cream mixed with 1 beaten egg
- 2 tbs butter
Instructions
- Boil potatoes until tender. Drain and cool.
- Cut into cubes.
- In a saucepan, heat oil over med heat. Brown oonion and meat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, wine and pepper. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
- Remove lid and simmer gently until liquid evaporated
- In a bowl combine potatoes, eggs, half the cheese, mace and pepper
- Place half potato mixture in baking dish, cover with all the meat. Top with remaining potato mixture.
- Pour cream egg mixture over potatoes. Top with breadcrumbs and remaining cheese.
- Bake uncovered in moderate oven (180C) 25-30 min or until cheese is melted and top is brown.
Final Comments
I would serve this with salad or steamed veg
