Recipe Introduction
I usually double this. The food colouring is optional, we often don't use it and just add natural things like shells or pebbles for the children to play. I saw one educator hide a squirt of food dye in the centre of each ball of playdough and the children found it when they began to work the dough for play. Another idea is to use two primary colours for two batches of dough and let the children play
List of Ingredients
- 2 cups plain flour (plus more to adjust the texture at the end)
- 4tbs cream tartar
- 2 tbs cooking oil (or a nice scented oil such as lavender)
- 1 cup salt
- 2 cups boiling water
- food colour, spices, scented oils (all optional)
Instructions
- Mix all dry ingredients
- Add oil
- Add boiling water and stir rapidly. If it is too sticky add more flour. As it cools begin to knead it to develop the gluten in it so it becomes dough not just mess.
- Add colours or scents as you like
