    Recipe Introduction

Hardcore hiking food. This with beef jerky, water and some multi-vitamins is all you need. One slice has around, ohh 2000 calories or so.

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 cups brown sugar (white can also be used, though i like the brown)
    • 1/3 cup of molasses
    • 1/3 cup honey
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2 cups butter of margirine (for extra keeping, try using camping butter)
    • 9 1/2 cups quick oats
    • Additions:
    • nuts, dried fruit, mix butter and peanut butter, add chocolate chips, you get the idea

    Instructions

    1. Cream all ingredients except oats and nuts (extras).
    2. Then add oats and nuts and mix well. With an old, strong spoon. By someone with strong arms. Or better yet, by many different people with strong arms.
    3. Spread into 2 really greased cookie sheets about 1/2 inch thick and bake at 360 F for 8 minutes.
    4. Remove from oven and flatten down (the bread with puff) with a well greased rolling pin. On a side note, buttered nalgenes work great.
    5. Bake again for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and roll it down again. Don't over bake. Cut while warm. Cool in the pans (assuming you greased 'em REAL well)

    Final Comments

This also makes a great topping for ice cream (like that needs more calories) and makes a great breakfast. Mix with dried fruit, or fresh, berries chocolate etc and cover with milk or yogurt. It'll get you through the day.
