    From “A Pinch of Salt Lake”, the Junior League of Salt Lake City, Utah

    List of Ingredients




    1cup butter/margarine, softened
    2 cups oven-toasted rice cereal, corn flakes, or 3/4 cup shreds of wheat bran cereal
    1cup sugar
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    1 cup chopped pecans, walnuts, or unsalted peanuts
    2 eggs
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 (6 oz) package chocolate, peanut butter, or butterscotch chips
    ½ teaspoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 cup flaked coconut (optional)
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    ¾ cup raisins (optional)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    2 cups uncooked regular oats

    Recipe



    Cream butter. Gradually add sugars, beating well.

    Add eggs and mix well.

    Stir in flour and next 4 ingredients.

    Fold in oats, cereal, nuts, chips, and, if desired, coconut and raisins.

    Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake at 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until browned. Cool on wire racks.

    Yield: 5 dozen
