    Recipe Introduction

    The MAMA'S COOK BOOK was prepared by the Pre-School Group of the Louisville (Georgia) Parent Teacher Association many years ago when most women knew the ins and outs of cooking. Therefore part of the directions are sometimes left out. This recipe is confusing. Sounds like the directions are for the filling. I left it exactly as written.

    List of Ingredients

    6 egg yolks
    1 cup butter
    1 tsp. lemon, and almond flavor, mixed
    3 1/2 cups flour
    2 cups sugar
    2-3 cups water
    3 tsp. baking powder

    Filling:
    6 egg yolks
    1 1/2 cup sugar
    juice of 2 lemons, rind of 1
    2 tbsp. oleo or butter

    Recipe

    Mix well, cook in double boiler, stirring all the time. When thick and leaves the boiler, remove and beat at once until thick, cool and creamy. Beating is the secret of this filling.
