    THE MAMA'S COOK BOOK - Mrs. W. M. Whigham

    Recipe Introduction

    The MAMA'S COOK BOOK was prepared by the Pre-School Group of the Louisville (Georgia) Parent Teacher Association many years ago when most women knew the ins and outs of cooking. Therefore part of the directions are sometimes left out. To prepare this recipe I suggest using the directions from Nut Cake - 1.

    List of Ingredients

    1 lb. flour
    1 lb. sugar
    1/2 lb. butter
    6 eggs
    1-3 cup sweet milk
    1/2 cup sherry wine
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. lemon
    1 rounding tsp. baking powder
    1 large grated nutmeg
    1 qt. pecans or 3 cups pecans and 1 cup black walnuts
    1 1/2 lbs. seeded raisins

    Recipe

    This is the original cake recipe.

    Instead of black raisins you may use 1 lb. of sultana raisins and 1/2 lb. each of crystalized cherries and pineapple. Wash raisins, nuts before and spread on cloth. Use extra flour to rulling nuts and raisins.
