Spiced Chocolate Cake

3/4 cup butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. cloves
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 cups cake flour
1 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
Recipe
Cream butter, add sugar and beat until the consistency of whipped cream, add beaten egg yolks and mix thoroughly. Sift flour, baking powder, cocoa, cinnamon and cloves together and add alternately with milk. Add vanilla, carefully fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into greased pans. Bake for twenty-five minutes at 375 degrees.
