Recipe Introduction
The MAMA'S COOK BOOK was prepared by the Pre-School Group of the Louisville (Georgia) Parent Teacher Association many years ago when most women knew the ins and outs of cooking. Therefore part of the directions are sometimes left out.
List of Ingredients
5 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour, plain
grated rind of 1 lemon
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Recipe
Beat whites stiff, add 1/2 sugar. Beat yolks with other half sugar. Add lemon rind and juice to beaten yolks. Stir whites and yolks together. Fold in sifted flour.
Cook at 350 about 45 minutes and serve hot with wine (or vanilla) sauce.
Wine (or Vanilla) Sauce
Melt together in tin cup:
1 tbsp. butter (heaping)
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. wine
1/2 cup water
For Vanilla Sauce substitute 1 tbsp. vanilla instead of the wine.
