    THE MAMA'S COOK BOOK - Mrs. C. W. Jones

    Recipe Introduction

    "Try our candies -- then you'll see. They're so sweet -- and so are we." The MAMA'S COOK BOOK was prepared by the Pre-School Group of the Louisville (Georgia) Parent Teacher Association many years ago when most women knew the ins and outs of cooking. Therefore part of the directions are sometimes left out.

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/2 cups brown sugar
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 tbsp. white Karo syrup
    1 1/4 cups milk
    3 tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Recipe

    Combine all all ingredients except butter and vanilla. Cook over low heat to soft ball stage. Remove from heat, add butter. Beat until cool, add vanilla and continue beating until it can be dropped from spoon onto waxed paper. One cup nut meats may be added.
