The MAMA'S COOK BOOK was prepared by the Pre-School Group of the Louisville (Georgia) Parent Teacher Association many years ago when most women knew the ins and outs of cooking. Therefore part of the directions are sometimes left out.
List of Ingredients
3 cups sugar
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup white Karo syrup
2 egg whites
1 cup chopped nuts
Vanilla flavoringRecipe
Mix sugar, syrup and water together and boil until mixture forms medium hand ball when dropped in cold water or until mixture threads from spoon. Beat egg whites while this is cooking; then pour syrup over beaten egg whites very slowly at first, beating all the time. Beat well. Add nuts and flavoring and chop in pieces when mixture holds its shape.
