    THE MAMA'S COOK BOOK - Mrs. H. M. Edwards

    Recipe Introduction


    The MAMA'S COOK BOOK was prepared by the Pre-School Group of the Louisville (Georgia) Parent Teacher Association many years ago when most women knew the ins and outs of cooking. Therefore part of the directions are sometimes left out.

    List of Ingredients




    3 square unsweetened chocolate
    1 1/4 cup milk
    3 cup sugar
    Pinch Salt
    1 tbsp. light corn syrup
    3 tbsp. butter
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

    Recipe



    Add chocolate to milk and place over low heat. Cook until smooth and well blended, stiring constantly. Add sugar, salt and corn syrup. Stir until sugar is dissolved and mixture boils. Continue boiling, stirring occasionally until small amount of the mixture forms a soft ball when doropped into cold water. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla. Cool to luke warm. Beat until of light consistency to spread. Makes enough from top and sides of 2 9" layer pans.
