    APPLE SAUCE

    8 large tart apples peeled, core, and quartered.
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    3/4 cup water

    Combine all ingredients and simmer until soft. Add more water if needed. Yields 4 to 6 cups.
