    MAPLE PECAN APPLE CRISP

    List of Ingredients

    • 1/3 C (45g) Flour
    • 1/2 C (100g) Packed Light Brown Sugar
    • 1/3 C (85 ml) Old Fashion Oats
    • 3/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp Ground Cardamom
    • 1/4 C (60g) Butter or Margarine, chilled and cut into small pieces
    • 3-4 T Chopped Pecans
    • 3 lb (1.35kg) Granny Smith or Rome Apples, peeled and sliced (about 7 cups of apples)
    • 1/4 C (60 ml) Maple Syrup (use a good brand which is not watered down)

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 375F (180C). Coat a 8 inch (20cm) square baking dish (or 1 1/2 quart casserole dish) with butter or non stick spray.

    2. In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, oats, 1/4 teaspoon of both cinnamon and cardamom. Cut into the butter. It is better to do this by hand then with a food processor. The topping should be nice and crumbly. Stir in the pecans.

    3. In a large bowl, combine apples, maple syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom. Toss until the apples are well coated.

    4. Spoon the apple mixture into an 8 inch (20 cm) square baking dish. Sprinkle the apple mixture with the topping. Bake at 375F (180C) for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream.
