    easy star santa cookies

    Source of Recipe

    Pillsbury holiday cookies

    Recipe Introduction

The recipe calls for marshmallows to be used on the hat tip and "beard" but I used coconut flakes for the beard. You could also use small gum drops or white sprinkles.

    List of Ingredients

1 roll (16.5 oz) refrigerated sugar cookies
    1/4 c all purpose flour
    1 can vanilla frosting
    Red food coloring
    2 1/3 c miniature marshmallows, halved
    34 miniature chocolate chips
17 red miniature candy coated baking bits or mini m&m's

    Recipe

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl, break up cookie dough. Stir or knead in flour until well blended. With rolling pin, roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut dough into 17 stars, using 3 inch star shaped cookie cutter. On ungreased cookie sheets, place stars 2 inches apart.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.
In small bowl, mix 1/3 c of the frosting and the food coloring until well blended and desired red color. Frost 1 point of each star for Santa's hat. Place 1 marshmallow half on tip of hat. Avoiding area under hat for face, spread vanilla frosting on remaining cookie for beard. Top with marshmallow halves. Place dots of chocolate on 2 chocolate chips; place on face for eyes. Place dot of frosting on baking bit and position for nose.
