Recipe Introduction
I love anything different for the crockpot and this one is not only yummy but has the potential to be low-fat, depending on the meat you use. I cook my meatballs in the George Foreman grill instead of browning them with oil but that's up to you.
List of Ingredients
- 3 lbs ground beef or ground turkey, thawed
- 1 cup italian bread crumbs
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 c milk
- 1/4 c grated romano cheese
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp garlic
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 c water
- 2 c beef broth
- 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) stewed tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 c chopped carrots
- 1 c chopped onion
- 1/4 c chopped celery
- 1 lbsp italian seasoning
Instructions
- Combine meat, bread crumbs, eggs, milk, cheese, salt, garlic, and pepper in large bowl.
- Form into 2-inch round balls.
- Heat oil in skillet over medium high heat until hot.
- Brown meatballs on all sides.
- Transfer to 5 or 6 qt slow cooker.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Stir well to combine.
- Cover; cook on low 4-6 hours or on high 2-4 hours.
