    Recipe Introduction


    Jean gave me two different recipes.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 cups peanuts or pecans
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt (scant)
    • 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/8 cup water
    • 3/8 cup light Caro syrup
    • 2 tablespoons oleo or butter
    • or
    • 2 cups sugar
    • pinch salt
    • 3/4 cup light Caro syrup
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 2 1/2 cups pecans
    • big table spoon oleo
    • 2 teaspoons soda


    Instructions


    1. Boil sugar, salt, syrup, water, and nuts 8 to 10 minutes. Boil and turn down a little above medium. Stir last five minutes constantly.
    2. Add butter about 2 minutes before taking up.
    3. Cut off heat.
    4. Stir in soda.

    5. Put oleo on formica table or cookie sheet.
    6. Pour candy onto table. Wait 1 minute and start pulling until very thin.


    Final Comments


    "Miss Jean" used to make this when we stayed at our camphouse at Thanksgiving.
