    List of Ingredients


    • 1 3/4 cups sifted flour
    • 2 teas. Baking Powder
    • 1 teas. salt
    • 2 Tbls. shortening
    • 2/3 cups cold water


    Instructions


    1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt in bowl.

    2. Cut shortening in coursly.

    3. Add water slowly mixing just enough to hold together as for pie crust.

    4. Turn out on floured board and knead gently until smooth. Cover and let dough rest for 5 minutes.

    5. Roll out into a rectangle about 12x15". Dough should be very thin, about 1/8" thick.

    6. Cut into 3" squares. Drop a few at a time into deep fat fryer. At first turn squares over 3 or 4 times to make them puff evenly.

    7. Fry for abour 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

    8. Should puff up like little pillow.



    Final Comments


    Serve hot with syrup, honey or butter.
