List of Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups sifted flour
- 2 teas. Baking Powder
- 1 teas. salt
- 2 Tbls. shortening
- 2/3 cups cold water
Instructions
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt in bowl.
- Cut shortening in coursly.
- Add water slowly mixing just enough to hold together as for pie crust.
- Turn out on floured board and knead gently until smooth. Cover and let dough rest for 5 minutes.
- Roll out into a rectangle about 12x15". Dough should be very thin, about 1/8" thick.
- Cut into 3" squares. Drop a few at a time into deep fat fryer. At first turn squares over 3 or 4 times to make them puff evenly.
- Fry for abour 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Should puff up like little pillow.
Final Comments
Serve hot with syrup, honey or butter.
