    Boiled Custard Ice Cream

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 gallon whole milk
    • 5 Tbls. cornstarch
    • 3 1/2 cups sugar
    • 6 eggs
    • vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Scald milk.
    2. Mix cornstarch and sugar, dampen with small amount of milk.
    3. Add eggs on at a time, beat after adding each egg.
    4. Add cornstarch mixture to scalded milk, cook until slightly thickened
    5. Add 1 1/2 cans of evaporated milk (large)
    6. Add mashed fruit if desired and vanilla to taste before freezing.
    7. Pour into freezer container to freeze.


    Final Comments


    Makes 6 quarts.
