Boiled Custard Ice Cream

List of Ingredients
- 1 gallon whole milk
- 5 Tbls. cornstarch
- 3 1/2 cups sugar
- 6 eggs
- vanilla
Instructions
- Scald milk.
- Mix cornstarch and sugar, dampen with small amount of milk.
- Add eggs on at a time, beat after adding each egg.
- Add cornstarch mixture to scalded milk, cook until slightly thickened
- Add 1 1/2 cans of evaporated milk (large)
- Add mashed fruit if desired and vanilla to taste before freezing.
- Pour into freezer container to freeze.
Final Comments
Makes 6 quarts.
