This is so good on toast in the morning!
List of Ingredients
- 4 lb.s Granny Smith apples
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 Tbls. fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teas. salt
- Dash of cloves
- 2 (3") cinnamon sticks
- 1 star anise
Instructions
- Peel, core and quarter apples.
- Combine apples and cider in a large stockpot, bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer, partially covered, 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
- Place apple mixture in a food processor, pulse 6 times until chunky.
- Stir in sugar and remaining ingredients.
- Cook over low heat 1 hour until thick, stirring occasionally.
- Discard cinnamon and star anise.
- Cover and chill. Store in airtight container in refrigerator up to a month.
Final Comments
Yields 4 cups
