List of Ingredients
- FILLING
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, chopped fine
- 2 teaspoons salt
- chopped parsley
- 2-3 tomatoes diced
- 1 egg white - no yolk
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 lb can tomatoes
- SAUCE
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 cups hot milk
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3/4 fups flour
- salt
- nutmeg
- 2 eggs + 2 egg yolks
- 1 lbs macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- FILLING - heat butter in large pan and saute beef and onion until browned. Add remaining ingredients, except egg white. Cover and cook over medium heat; allow to cook and add egg whites
- SAUCE - Melt butter in saucepan, add flour and cook stirring constantly for 1 minute. Add milk all at once and stil until sauce is smooth. Add salt, pepper and nutmeg. Remove from heat and stir in cheese, eggs and egg yolks
- Cook macaroni until soft but firm. Drain and return to pan and add butter
- Butter a baking pan and put in half of the macaroni.
- Sprinkle wih cheese and cover with meat filling.
- Top with remaining macaroni.
- Sprinkle wih cheese and cover with sauce
- Sprinkle top with the rest of the cheese
- Cook in 350 degree overn for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
- Leave for 20 minutes then cut into squares and serve
