    Recipe Introduction

Mom used to make these once a year only: Christmas.
We would get up on Christmas morning, open our presents and have homemade hot cocoa and cinnamon rolls.

    List of Ingredients

    • Rolls:
    • 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 cups flour
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 2 pkgs. yeast
    • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 2 eggs- ROOM TEMP!!!!!
    • Sauce:
    • 3/4 cup butter
    • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
    • 3/4 cup light corn syrup

    Instructions

    1. In large bowl, thoroughly mix 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt and the yeast. Set aside.
    2. Combine milk and butter in pan. Heat on low heat until very warm (120F to 130F). Gradually add liquid to dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes at medium speed. Scrape bowl occasionally.
    3. Add eggs and 1 cup flour. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes, scraping occasionally.
    4. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough. Turn out on floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic; 8 to 10 minutes. Place in warm place free from draft until doubled in bulk (cover with towel), approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
    5. Punch down; turn onto lightly floured surface. Roll out into a rectangle.
    6. Spread butter over dough and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
    7. Roll into a log and slice.
    8. Butter 9x13 inch cake pans.
    9. Sauce:
Melt butter. Stir in brown sugar and corn syrup on medium low heat. Heat until sugar is dissolved: DO NOT BOIL!! Stir often.
    10. Pour into pans.
    11. Put sliced rolls on top. Push down middles with finger. Cover and let rise until double; 30 to 45 minutes.
    12. Bake in oven at 350F for 25 minutes. Turn out onto waxed paper and spoon sauce back onto rolls.
