    I used to make these all the time in Germany, but I forgot about them until now. They are very easy to make, and taste good too!

    List of Ingredients




    1 pkg. yeast
    1 cup warm water
    2 tbs. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    2 tbs. melted shortening or vegetable oil
    2 1/4 cups flour

    Recipe



    Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt, egg and shortening or oil; mix well. Beat in 1 cup flour until smooth. Stir in remaining flour until smooth. Cover and let rise until double (about 45 minutes). Stir down and spoon into greased muffin tin. Let rise until double (about 15 minutes). Bake at 400F for 15 minutes.
