    List of Ingredients

7 medium to large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
    2 tbs. lemon juice
    1/4 cup water
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 1/2 cups rolled oats
    3 cups packed brown sugar
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup butter or margarine, softened

    Recipe

    1. Preheat oven to 350F.
    2. Toss apples with lemon juice and water in a mixing bowl.
    3. In another mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Mix thoroughly. Cut in the butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs (I just used my hands and "squished" it with my fingers).
    4. Put half of the apples in a 9x13 baking dish and cover with half of the crumb mixture. Layer with the rest of the apples and then the rest of the crumb mixture.
    5. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until top is lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.
