    24-28 slices of spongy white bread
    5 Tablespoons butter
    1/2 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
    4 Tablespoons sherry
    1 lb. mushrooms, finely chopped
    1-2 teaspoons curry powder - to taste
    salt and pepper - to taste
    Additional melted butter

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 425F. Roll out the slices of bread very
    thin, and remove the crusts. In a large skillet, melt the
    butter; add the onions and sherry, cooking until tender. Add
    mushrooms and seasonings; cook until softened. Remove from
    heat; allow to cool a bit. Mixture will be juicy.
    Put about a tablespoon on each slice of bread; roll up,
    jelly roll style, and secure with one or two toothpicks;
    place on a cookie sheet. Brush melted butter on the tops;
    bake in oven about ten minutes, until golden.
    These are equally good at any temperature, hot or cold.
