2 pounds cooked country ham, ground
1 pound uncooked pork sausage
2 cups dry breadcrumbs
2 eggs
1 1/2 to 2 cups milk
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup water
1 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
Recipe
Combine ham, sausage, breadcrumbs and eggs. Mix well with hands. Slowly add the milk, using just enough to make the mixture moist. Roll into small balls (may be frozen at this point). When ready to bake, place in a single layer in a baking dish.
To prepare sauce, combine sugar, water, vinegar and mustard in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Pour sauce over uncooked ham balls. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, basting after 25 minutes.
Makes 8 dozen.
