ARIZONA BISCUITS ON A STICK

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup oats
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup milk
Recipe
Combine flour, oats, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in cheese and milk.
Knead gently a few times.
Divide dough into 24 equal pieces.
Flatten in hands and shape around a stick to form a cylinder.
Toast over hot coals for 8 - 10 minutes, turning frequently.
Slide off stick and fill with butter and jam to serve.
Makes 1 doz.
