    Carole's Butter Sticks

    Source of Recipe

The Cedar House Bed & Breakfast Milton, West Virginia

    List of Ingredients

    2 cups self-rising flour
    2 tablespoons sugar
    3/4 cup milk
    1 stick butter
    Sesame or poppy seeds

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 425°. Melt butter in a 7" x 11" pan.
Mix flour, sugar and milk, keeping the dough as soft
as possible. Let it "rest" for one minute and then
knead gently on a floured cloth. Roll dough to size
of pan and cut lengthwise in the center of the dough.
Cut the dough crosswise at 3/4 inch intervals with a sharp,
floured knife to make sticks approximately 3/4" x 3 1/2".
Roll in the melted butter, completely coating the sticks.
Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top and bake for 12-15
minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to sit until excess
butter is absorbed -- usually a minute or so.
    Serve while hot!!!
