    List of Ingredients

    Dough:

    2 cups water

    1 cup quick-cooking oats

    3 tablespoons margarine

    2 (.25 ounce) packages of Fleischmann’s yeast

1/2 cup warm water (100-110) degrees

    1 tablespoon sugar

    4 cups all-purpose flour

    1 1/2 teaspoons salt

    1/3 cup Honey

    Decorations:

    Bag of tiny twist pretzels

    1/4 cup currants

    Icing:

    1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

    1/4 cup softened butter

Fresh squeezed juice of lemon (add amount for icing consistency)

    1-2 drops yellow food coloring

    Recipe

Bring 2 cups water to boil in a saucepan. Stir in oats and butter. Boil and stir for one minute.

Remove from heat. Let cool to luke warm. Stir together yeast, 1/2 cup very warm water, and 1 tablespoon sugar in small bowl. Let stand 5 minutes.

Beat oat mixture, yeast mixture, flour, salt and honey at medium speed with a paddle attachment in a stand mixer for about 2 minutes.

Change the paddle attachment to a dough-hook attachment and mix for about 5 minutes.

Remove dough from bowl and place in a well-greased bowl. Cover bowl, and let rise for about 1 hour, or until dough is doubled in size.

Punch down dough, and divide into 3 portions. Shape each portion into 8 “jelly bean shaped” balls.

Grease 3 9” round cake pans. Place 8 balls into each pan. Using a knife tip or a chop stick, poke two eye holes in each ball. Eye holes will face the edge of the pan.. Place a currant into each eye hole.

Next, cut off the bottom loop of a tiny-twist pretzel. This will leave the two loops at the top of the pretzel for the bee wings. Use the leftover loop for the bee stinger. You may need to trim the stinger a bit. With the knife tip or chopstick, poke two parallel holes in the “bee-body” and poke 2 2-loop pretzel wings into the dough. Continue for all the bees.

Now poke pieces of the leftover pretzel loop at the bottom of each bee for the stinger.

Cover and let rise for about 20 minutes.

Bake in a preheated 375 Degree oven for 15-18 minutes.

Remove from oven. Let cool on wire rack. Remove from pan and place on serving plate..

Make powdered sugar frosting. Put frosting in plastic bag. Cut off tip and pipe honey bee stripes down the back of each bee. Add other features as desired.
