1 Double Crust Pastry for 9-
Inch Pie
-----MINCEMEAT-----
2 cups Apples -- chopped
1/2 cup Currants
1/2 cup Apple Cider
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
1 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Currant Jelly
1/2 cup Raisins -- chopped
1/4 cup Suet
1 cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Molasses
1/2 teaspoon Cloves
1/4 teaspoon Mace
1 cup Beef -- cooked & chopped
Water beef was cooked in OR
Beef Broth -- unsalted
Recipe
Mix all ingredients for mincemeat, adding enough water beef was cooked in or beef broth to just moisten.
Stir and heat gradually. Simmer 20 minutes.
To make mincemeat pie:
Line a 9-inch pie pan with pastry. Fill unbaked shell with mincemeat. Cover with top pastry, slashed to permit steam to escape.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and bake about 20 minutes longer until golden brown.
Serve warm.
