Traditionally eaten on Ash Wednesday
List of Ingredients
2oz (50g) wheat grains
½ pint (250ml) milk
2 tsps sugar
Flavouring of your own choice, e.g. soft garden fruits such as raspberry
Recipe
Soak the wheat grains in water throughout the night; strain them and add to the milk in a saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil, then simmer and stir until the milk has thickened. Add the sugar and flavouring, then cook for another couple of minutes. You may add more milk if the frumenty thickens too much.
