    6oz butter or butter and margarine.
    6oz caster sugar
    ½ tbsp black treacle
    1 tbsp golden syrup
    3 eggs
    8oz self raising flour
    1 lb currants
    2oz lemon or mixed peel
    2oz ground almonds

    Recipe



    1. Cream the butter and sugar
    2. Add the treacle and syrup
    3. Beat in each egg with a spoon of sifted flour
    4. Mix the sieved flour, currants, peel and ground almonds together
    5. Fold into the mixture
