BOSTON BAKED SAUSAGE AND RICE

1 1/2 pounds smoked country-style link sausage
1 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup catsup
1/4 cup maple syrup or brown sugar
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 1/2 cups cooked riceRecipe
Cook sausage in small amount of water in covered pan for 10 minutes. Drain and cut sausage into 2-1/2-inch pieces.
Combine onion, catsup, syrup, mustard, liquid smoke, salt, pepper and rice. Turn into buttered 2-quart casserole.
Arrange sausage on top. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees 30 to 40 minutes.
Serves 6.
